League Punishes Pair for Fighting Monday, July 22nd , 2024 After an intense confrontation, both the Fisher Cats Buddy Reed and the Flying Squirrels Michael Mercado were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent New Hampshire-Richmond game. Buddy Reed will miss 2 games, while Michael Mercado was suspended for 6 games. "Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Buddy Reed commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play." So far this season Reed has gotten 30 hits in 141 at-bats for a .213 batting average with 1 home run. His stats include 13 RBIs and 16 runs scored. He has played in 42 games. Currently Mercado has a record of 4-6 with 56 strikeouts and 20 walks in 56.2 innings and a 5.40 ERA. |
