Salcedo No-Hits New York A (GCL)
Wednesday, May 29th , 2024
Kelvis Salcedo really did a number on the New York A (GCL) Yankees at Champion Stadium today -- and that number was zero.
The Toronto (GCL) Blue Pirates hurler had what he later called "one of the best moments of my life," tossing a no-hitter and leading the Blue Pirates to victory, 3-0.
"This is something special," Salcedo said. "I knew from the fifth inning that I had a no-hitter working. I tried to get it out of my mind, but you just can't. They have too many scoreboards in the park. They're everywhere you look."
The right-hander faced only 28 batters in the no-hit gem, struck out 11 and walked 1.
"We simply couldn't get any wood on the ball," New York A (GCL) manager Glenden Wisloff said when asked about the epic performance. "Salcedo was brilliant out there. He certainly had our number."
His record for the year is 1-3 in 6 starts and Salcedo has a 5.47 ERA.
