Chris “Cracker” Greenwell has been clearly the best hitter in the league through the opening month of the CBA’s Inaugural placement season. Greenwell leads the league in qualified AVG, OPB, SLG, HR, and is 2nd in almost as many categories

 

Starter of the Month

Ben Perez

After the injury to Mike Quinn, this award has opened up to a wide audience of pitchers, Ben Perez has taken the crown to begin with, and his stats speak for themselves. He leads the league in IP and ERA, leading the Eagles to 4 Wins. His WHIP is 0.77, which when factored with his league leading workload, his WHIP should be considered the best in the league as well.

 

Reliever of the Month

Shawn Martin
Shawn Martin, 30, Midwest Plainsmen
1-0 W-L | 4 SV | 0 BS | 9.1 IP | 1 HA | 2 BB | 16 K | 0.00 ERA | 0.36 WHIP

While he has only appeared in 5 games, he is 4-0 in save situations, and the time he got called in for relief, he retired all 8 batters he faced and struck out the last 6 batters in a row to win.


Rookie Batter of the Month*

Sal Smooth Baez
Sal Baez, 22, 1B, Brooklyn Bulldogs
68 PA | .435 AVG | .485 OBP | .726 SLG | 4 HR | 13 RBI

Sal “Smooth” Baez had a very good March, with a statline that boasted a top 3 OPS+ rating. He showed his good all around game, hitting 4 HR, and 2 Doubles and Triples apiece, resulting in 13 RBIs and hes a big reason why Brooklyn is performing so well. At 22 years old, “Smooth” has a long career ahead of him


Rookie Pitcher of the Month*

Randy Steckel
Randy Steckel, 20, SP Detroit Motors
2-0 W-L | 14.2 IP | 13 HA | 5 ER | 2 BB | 11 K | 3.07 ERA | 1.02 WHIP

Steckel had the 2nd most IP of any rookie pitcher, with a W in both outings and lastied 7 IP in both outings. Showed very good control for a 20 year old in this league, best K/BB of rookies by more than double 2nd place, along with the best WHIP.
