Indians Clip Tides 5-4 in R2 Contest
|
The Indianapolis Indians went deep into extra innings at Harbor Park today, slipping away with a hard-fought 5-4 win to tie the Championship.
Indianapolis took the 19-inning marathon behind the work of reliever Bill Brown. Brown came in in relief and pitched to 17 batters to aid the Indianapolis cause. The clubs are now even at 1-1 in their best-of-7 series.
Indianapolis used the timely hitting of Zach Britton to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 19th inning to put the Indians on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Feels good to get the job done," Britton said after the game.
Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at Victory Field in Indianapolis.
