Stripers Beat Red Sox, 4-1

The Gwinnett Stripers went home winners at McCoy Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Tim Cates. Cates stifled the Pawtucket Red Sox, enabling Gwinnett to grab the 4-1 win. Cates, the winner, moves to 4-4. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Claudio Santos closed it out for his 4th save.
Gwinnett relied on the hitting of Nick Schnell to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Stripers on top, 3-0. For the game, Schnell had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Cates told the Gwinnett Bulletin.
The Stripers lead the South by 6½ games.
