Chiefs Win at Rochester, 8-4
|
The Syracuse Chiefs topped the Rochester Red Wings, 8-4, in International League action at Frontier Field. The standout performance belonged to Syracuse pitcher and Laguna Beach, California, native Ethan Reed. Mike Ridell snagged the win in relief. In 2.1 innings, the right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits. He's now 1-1 on the season. Anthony Kay was credited with the save for Syracuse, his 1st of the season.
Max Evans, the 23-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Evans contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Syracuse up, 4-2.
"I felt good up there," said Evans. "I saw the ball well."
Syracuse is first in the North with a record of 30-24.
