Rochester Red Wings starter Jorge Rodríguez turned in an exceptional performance against the Scranton WB RailRiders at PNC Field, resulting in a Rochester win, 4-2. Matt Mercer, 3-3, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Rochester has a record of 30-35, placing them 5th in the North.
Rochester used the clutch hitting of Dave Reilly to capture the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Red Wings ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Rodríguez.
