The 6-1 Charlotte win over Syracuse was due in large part to Michael Wheeloc. The Knights first baseman went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2. Charlotte reliever Tim Rankin picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Donald Austin took the loss. Hugues Vallone converted his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Cameron Eden was 1-2 with 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Charlotte. The 25-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Donald Austin. It was his 5th walk of the season.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Wheeloc.
Charlotte has now won 5 straight, while the Chiefs have lost 4 in a row.
