The Charlotte Knights faced a tough opponent in Rochester pitcher John Bauer, but did just enough to pull out the victory at BB&T Ballpark by a final score of 3-2. Bauer went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Charlotte reliever Hugues Vallone was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Kevin Aylward. Charlotte is now 60-39, 2½ games up in the South.

Had Jordan Walker not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Walker hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Knights.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Walker told the Charlotte News.
