Arai Gets #300
Saturday, September 18th, 2021
The crowd roared -- they knew they were seeing history -- and Arinori Arai was delighted, too. The 33-year-old Yankees shortstop was making history with his 300th career homer. The crowd buzzed and roared again when Arai stuck his head out of the dugout for a curtain call.
"Never, as a kid, did I ever think I'd hit even one," he told BNN after hitting No. 300 in a 5-2 victory over Cleveland. Arai went 1-for-3 in the game, had 1 run batted in, and scored 1 run.
In 1252 games Arai has a career .252 batting average and a .355 on-base percentage. He has hit 300 home runs with 811 RBIs and 722 runs scored.
