McHann Acclaimed Top Pitcher in September

The Double-A Central announced the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award. It went to relief specialist Steve McHann of Wichita for his outstanding work on the mound.

Mel Arias Named Best AA C Batter in September

Mel Arias may be much younger than other hitters in the Double-A Central, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in September to win the Batter of the Month award.
The 23-year-old Rio Grande Valley center fielder hit .404 with 3 home runs, 16 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
Arias has a .311 average and a .400 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 42 hits, 7 home runs and driven in 28 runs.
